The Duke of Buckingham
George Villiers, born on August 28th 1592 at Brooksby in Leicestershire became the Duke of Buckingham shortly after he met King James I in 1614. He rose in rank quickly, sparking negative thoughts among other noblemen. The Duke of Buckingham was both King James I and King Charles I right hand man. He was also incompetent and greatly disliked by the people of England. Even though he was a favorite among the Stuart kings, he led them into disasters one after the other including wars with France and Spain. Eventually he was assassinated, bringing great sorrow to the king and great joy to everyone else.
